Through the Healthy Eating Advisory Service, Nutrition Australia and PFD Food Services are working together to provide Victorians with healthier food and drink choices.
PFD Food services are one of the largest food and drink distributors in Australia. With the support of Nutrition Australia, over 4,000 food and drink products (both pre-packaged items and individual ingredients) have been classified according to the 'traffic light' system used in the Healthy Choices guidelines.
These classifications clearly indicate just how healthy a product is, and encourage organisations across Victoria - including workplaces, school canteens, sport and recreation centres and hospitals – that are serviced by PFD Food Services to choose healthier products to sell. It will also make it easier for Victorian retail outlets, vending suppliers and caterers to make informed decisions when purchasing food and drinks.
The product classifications will feature in PFD Food Services online ordering system later in 2016 and the product catalogues in 2017.
