City of Whittlesea is leading the way in staff wellbeing with the Life! Program

The City of Whittlesea recognises the value of staff wellbeing and is leading the way for other workplaces in Victoria by implementing the Life! program. The City of Whittlesea recently hosted the Life! program to help enhance the Council’s health and wellbeing program. “We also wanted a program which has measurable results,” City of Whittlesea Wellbeing at Work Officer, Agnieszka Miller said. “Life! addresses a gap in our current program by educating staff on the risks of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease and importantly, how these risks can be reduced through lifestyle changes.”

Life! program manager, Meg O’Donnell agrees “The Life! program can deliver on workplace health and wellbeing policies, it’s a great way to provide staff with an evidence-based, professional program, reducing risk of chronic disease.”

With a state-wide workforce the Life! program can be delivered in any Victorian workplace. “We really just need the space to run the sessions. We will provide everything else, a qualified facilitator, tools, resources workbooks, all you need to run practical, engaging sessions.”

By attending in their lunch break, a City of Whittlesea staff member comments “coming to these sessions has taught me it’s not a diet, it’s a change in thinking.”

The Life! Program is supported by the Victorian Government and coordinated by Diabetes Victoria.
