Are we on track for healthy change?

Progress measures provide feedback on whether our collective efforts are on track to achieving population health outcomes and targets.

The Victorian public health and wellbeing outcomes framework provides a new approach to monitoring and reporting on our collective efforts to improve health and wellbeing over the long term.

We know that improving public health and wellbeing can take many years and requires concerted and collective effort across a range of sectors. So how do we know we are on track to achieve improved health outcomes? Shorter term measures of change – progress measures – can be used to provide feedback on whether we are heading in the right direction to achieving these population health outcomes.

A suite of progress measures have been developed in consultation with the various sectors for selected priorities of the Victorian public health and wellbeing plan 2015–2019 specifically healthy eating, active living, tobacco-free living.

Progress measures can be used by local partnerships of agencies involved in improving the health and wellbeing of communities to assist decision making and track progress of your work.

The progress measures, and guidance on how you can apply them to your work, will be released later this year.
