The Campfire podcast series features topic and farming experts discussing a wide range of issues that impact farming workplaces.
Campfire is the latest podcast developed by the Primary Producer Knowledge Network (PPKN) and led by the National Centre for Farmer Health (NCFH). Campfire provides an engaging, solution-focused approach for farmers to proactively improve their systems of work to create mentally healthy workplaces.
Each Campfire podcast episode explores how work-related factors can positively or negatively affect the mental health of farmers, farming families and farm employees. Podcast speakers are topic experts, and many of them are also farmers with personal experience of grappling with mental health issues on the land. New Campfire podcast episodes are released every fortnight. The latest Campfire episode #20 ‘Thinking through the flood recovery journey’ featured Dr Lauren Stracey from Rural Aid.
Campfire focuses on the prevention of stress and poor mental health and addresses many contributing factors – from the glaringly obvious to the more insidious, which can strike unexpectedly. Campfire recommends practical actions that farmers can take to build a mentally healthy workplace amidst the array of challenges they face on their farms.
