Healthy BBQs with VACCHO, VAHS and the Fitzroy Stars!

Gathering together at Community events is important to us, and part of the hospitality is often a big BBQ. The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO), the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) and the Fitzroy Stars Football and Netball Club have partnered to create the ‘Caring for the Community with a 5 star BBQ’ resources.

The resources aim to normalise and promote healthy, tasty food at Community events.

What did we create?

• A colourful poster outlining the 5 aspects of a healthy BBQ:

  1. BBQ lean meat and veggies
  2. Pick a fruit
  3. Make your own salad
  4. Drink water
  5. Be active

• A magnetised card listing plenty of healthy foods that can be enjoyed as part of a healthy BBQ, and a smaller section showing which foods should be avoided.

Download the resources and share them with your Community!
