Keeping workers more active more often with sit-to-stand workstations

Sit-to-stand workstations are a great way to support increased activity for people in sedentary roles.

A trial at Alfred Health found that these workstations reduced average sitting time from 91% to 54%, with 99% of staff involved saying they would recommend sit-to-stand workstations to colleagues.

Strong user acceptance and continued interest has resulted in more than 750 sit-to-stand workstations being rolled out across the organisation

Long term users of the workstations believe they offer benefits including:

  • improved health and wellbeing
  • greater concentration or focus
  • greater productivity
  • reduced pain and discomfort
  • reduced fatigue

The trial found that those who stood more benefited more.

Alfred Health is now encouraging other organisations to incorporate a range of sit-to-stand solutions within the workplace to deliver long term benefits.
