My Wellbeing recognised at Northern Health

Speaking to staff members is a crucial part of Northern Health’s successful My Wellbeing @ Northern Health strategy. Staff engagement not only helped them to develop their strategy, but also ensured that their health and wellbeing plan meets the needs of the workforce.

Staff were asked about their health and wellbeing priorities, the barriers faced and how the organisation can help them achieve their goals. These questions pointed to some key initiatives that would benefit staff, including healthier food options in the cafeteria, subsidised gym memberships, and mental health and wellbeing training.

Northern Health then gathered expertise from within and outside the organisation. This ensured that the strategy provided staff with the best information about health and wellbeing opportunities.

Connections were formed with HeadsUp for mental health and wellbeing assistance and the Healthy Eating Advisory Service to refresh their vending machines and on-site food services.

Their collaboration and consultation has paid off, with Northern Health recognised for their work in promoting good health across the areas of physical activity, mental health and wellbeing, smoking and alcohol.
