The State Government of Victoria and Heart Foundation Victoria have launched a new Healthy Active by Design web portal.
Healthy Active by Design is a new tool to support the creation of environments that allow people to be active in their community. The new portal focuses on the Victorian environment and provides practical guidance, evidence, checklists and case studies to support healthier, more liveable neighbourhoods. Planners, urban designers, developers, transport engineers, health professionals and sport and recreation officers will all find this resource useful.
Healthy and liveable neighbourhoods are places where people can easily walk or cycle to their local schools, sporting centres, shops and parks. They are places where public transport is available and where public spaces allow people to connect socially and be part of a community.
This work supports the priorities of the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Plan and the implementation of 20 minute neighbourhoods as part of Plan Melbourne, and is one of a number of activities that Heart Foundation Victoria is undertaking to help Victorians be more active more often.
The portal can be found at Healthy Active By Design.
